The DFB, the German Football Association - with some 300 guests from sports, politics and business - celebrated the official opening of its new campus in Frankfurt on Thursday, 30 June,2022. A symbolic step into the future - which was also accompanied by a touch of reconciliation with the past.

Bright sunshine and a blue sky were reminiscent of the carefree days of the summer fairy tale of 2006, and the view of the Frankfurt skyline provided an impressive backdrop. The opening of the new campus in Frankfurt turned out to be a successful ceremony for the DFB.

The Prime Minister of Hesse, Boris Rhein, praised the site, which covers a total area of 15 hectares, as a "benchmark project". PM Rhein literally: "If you play world-class football, you also need the right framework." In the new home of the world's largest sports association, administration and sport are to grow very closely together under one roof. Courses for the national teams - the women already made the start in preparation for the upcoming European Championships in England -, coach and referee schooling, research and development in the Techlab: All these components are to make the campus a permanent place of encounter and exchange, from which "not only the top sport, but also the base will benefit", as Oliver Bierhoff emphasizes. DFB President Bernd Neuendorf praised the managing director of the national teams and academy as the pace maker and key figure in the planning and development of the campus.
