Referee: Ovidiu Alin Hategan (Romania)
Manchester City: Ederson - Walker, Ruben Dias, Stones, Joao Cancelo - Rodrigo, Gündogan, De Bruyne - Mahrez, Foden, Bernardo Silva
Head Coach: Pep Guardiola
Borussia Dortmund: Hitz - Can, Hummels, Akanji - Guerreiro, Dahoud, Bellingham, Morey - Knauff, Reus - Haaland
Head Coach: Edin Terzic
Both teams with the will to hold the ball in their lines the first 15 minutes show one shot on goal by Bellingham but not well placed into the middle, cleared by Ederson. But then Borussia loses the ball way too easy and Manchester doesn't give Dortmund a quarter. De Bruyne marks the first goal of the match with his strong right foot after a pass from Mahrez.
Borussia returns strong out of the break and has a promising opportunity in 48th min. but Haaland cannot get past Ederson who clears with his foot. Similar situation on the other side where Borussia goal keeper Marvin Hitz clears against Foden.
Borussia coach Terzic intends to change the result by bringing Meunier for Morey and Delaney for Dahoud (min. 81.) - and 4 min. later it is the equalizer for Dortmund! Bellingham spots Haaland in the center of the pitch who passes with his first touch for Reus who finds himseld alone in front of Ederson. Reus aims to the right corner and is successful. A deserved goal after a couragous fight of the team.
But ManCity still has a last answer: De Bruyne sends a cross to the far post where Meunier jumps but does not reach the ball that is stopped behind him by Gündogan who passes to Foden. A low shot into the far corner and it is again Manchester leading with one goal.
3 minutes of overtime pass without any further opportunities. Manchester will travel to Dortmund next week with an advantage of one goal in thier bag.
